Kedarnath Ekdham Yatra By Helicopter
Overview
Kedarnath yatra is one of the holiest shrines located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state in India. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest Hindu shrines of Shiva. Kedarnath is located at an altitude of 3,584 m above sea level, near the head of Mandakini river. Kedarnath yatra is available from the four main entry points in Uttarakhand, namely Gaurikund, Sonprayag, Ukhimath, and Phata. From these points, pilgrims can reach Kedarnath after a trek of around 14 km. The trek is usually done on foot, but ponies and palanquins are also available.
The main attraction of the Kedarnath yatra is the visit to the Kedarnath temple by helicopter. The temple is built in the 8th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Inside the temple, the idols of Lord Shiva, Nandi and Parvati are placed. Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple every year to seek blessings from Lord Shiva. Kedarnath yatra is a pilgrimage that should not be missed by devotees of Lord Shiva.
The trek to the temple Kedarnath yatra by helicopter is a very holy pilgrimage and is considered to be one of the four dhams. It is believed that taking a dip in the holy waters of the temple will help one cleanse their sins and have a prosperous life ahead. During the yatra, pilgrims can also visit other nearby attractions like the Triyuginarayan Temple, Vasuki Tal, and Gandhi Sarovar.
Along the trek, there are various teahouses and guesthouses that provide lodging and other facilities. The yatra usually takes place between the months of May and October, when the weather is clear and the snow has melted away.
Kedarnath is also home to the famous Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to various species of animals like Himalayan Tahr, Barking Deer, Himalayan Goral, Musk Deer, and Snow Leopard. It is also home to many birds like the Monal pheasant, Himalayan Snowcock, and the Himalayan Griffon. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 940sq. km and is a popular spot for trekking and photography.
